|  If you're thinking about or planning an upcoming trip to New York City, don't automatically assume that your only lodging options are in Manhattan. Instead you should consider the other boroughs, as many of New York's cheap hotels are located in Queens, Staten Island, Brooklyn, or the Bronx. Best of all, these seemingly non-tourist destinations feature unique attractions of their own, and transportation to Manhattan is quick and easy.
I joined a group of tourists to go on a city tour provided by "the Company with the Kilts." What makes this city tour unique is that the historically inspired trolleys are accompanied by knowledgeable, humorous guides that are dressed up - you guessed it - in a kilt. On this sunny October day, our guide was Allen Mackenzie, whose extensive historic knowledge and witty comments kept the entire vehicle entertained.
Planning a fun-filled day with some of your close girlfriends, whether they are friends you see on a regular basis or just some old friends from out of town, is a great way to explore Manhattan while doing it with people you enjoy spending time with. One may think that most people coming into the city for the day would want to just have lunch and go to the theatre, ballet, a museum, or frankly just go shopping! Well, these are wonderful ideas, but there are unusual types of things and events that you can take part in which could amuse you in different ways.
New York has been the favorite destination for business meetings, conventions, product launches, focus groups, marketing launches, new product line and other events that a business firm may need to host. Arranging for VIP receptions, special events, meeting, and group tour and spouse programs is not a problem. For centuries, New York has hosted important meetings which have changed the nation.

They came for a better life for themselves and their families, to experience the promise of light that streamed from Lady Liberty's torch as she stood in welcome to all those who entered New York Harbor. Our experience in a recent trip to Liberty Island and Ellis Island left us profoundly proud of our ancestors who braved the seas, and even more proud of our nation, The United States of America.
